X-guard heist

Also known as Heist Sweep — the canonical term used on this site.

Names the X-guard heist sweep

X-guard heist is a descriptive name for the heist sweep — naming the X-guard the heist sweep is launched from.

Etymology. “X-guard” names the position where the bottom player’s legs cross under one of the opponent’s; “heist” names the lifting reversal. The label locates the heist in its home position.

Mechanics. X-guard attacks the opponent’s base directly: the crossed legs control and elevate one of the opponent’s support legs, removing it from under them, and the heist lifts that side so the opponent topples toward the unsupported direction with no base to recover on.

Cross-reference. “Hip under sweep” is a sibling alias. Full mechanical coverage on Heist Sweep.
