Hip under sweep
Also known as Heist Sweep — the canonical term used on this site.
Getting the hips under to elevate
Hip under sweep is a descriptive name for the heist sweep — naming the action of driving the hips under the opponent to elevate them.
Etymology. “Hip under” describes the bottom player working their hips beneath the opponent’s base; “sweep” names the reversal. The label foregrounds the hip position that powers the lift.
Mechanics. Driving the hips under the opponent uses hip mobility to elevate their base: once the bottom player’s hips are beneath the opponent’s centre, extending lifts them off their support, and the heist carries them over toward the side the legs have cleared.
Cross-reference. “X-guard heist” is a sibling alias. Full mechanical coverage on Heist Sweep.
