Widely used alternative name for the tren lock

Pato lock is a widely used alternative name for the tren lock — the same knee-line control finished with a short Achilles lock.

Etymology. Regional naming; the two names travelled through different coaching communities and settled on the same technique. This site treats tren lock as canonical.

Mechanics. A V-lever is formed around the opponent’s knee by reaping the inside leg over and locking behind the shin, closed with a leg triangle. The finish comes from opening the knee outward against the trapped leg.

Cross-reference. “Tren lock” is the canonical name. Full coverage on Tren Lock.
