Pato lock escape

Family Escapes & Defence

Also known as Tren Lock Escape — the canonical term used on this site.

Training background: The attack is also called the pato lock; this site treats tren lock as canonical

Defending the tren lock, under its alternative name

Pato lock escape is the same defence as the tren lock escape — the attack carries both names.

Etymology. Follows the attack’s regional alternative name.

Mechanics. The defence is decided before the V closes: deny the reaping leg its path over the shin, attack the exposed free leg with a yoke lock while the shape is forming, or pull the trapped leg through the window before the triangle shuts.

Cross-reference. “Tren lock” is the canonical name. Full coverage on Tren Lock.
