Front tren lock defence

Descriptive — the tren lock’s target, entered from the front
Front tren lock defence names the Pato lock by its relationship to the tren lock, with which it shares a mechanical target and differs only in entry.
Etymology. “Front” marks the entry: the Pato is entered from the outside ashi variants with the attacker to the side of and entangled with the defender, while the tren lock comes from the truck with the attacker behind. Same joint, same loading, opposite geometry.
Mechanics. The shared target means the mechanical reading transfers, but the defensive cost does not — an ashi exchange is a far more workable position than the truck, so the answers here are correspondingly less desperate. The free-leg push into the hip introduces space at the moment the body drive needs none.
