Double neck tie

Also known as Double Collar Tie — the canonical term used on this site.

Training background: descriptive

Descriptive — both hands tying the neck

Double neck tie is a descriptive name for the double collar tie — naming the grip by the neck it controls rather than the collarbone region.

Etymology. “Neck tie” names the same clinch grip from the perspective of the neck it cups; “double” marks both hands. It is a plainer synonym, sidestepping the “collar” term for the body part it actually controls.

Mechanics. Tying both hands behind the neck forces the head and posture down; a bent-over posture in a standing exchange is functionally equivalent to being mid-throw, so the neck tie puts the opponent one step from the mat before any entry begins.

Cross-reference. “Double collar” and “Muay Thai plum” are sibling aliases. Full mechanical coverage on Double Collar Tie.
