Blast double

Also known as Double Leg Entry — the canonical term used on this site.

Training background: aggressive power variant — see Variations section above

Blast double as the committed double leg

Blast double, in this sense, names the double leg — the committed, driving attack on both of the opponent’s legs.

Etymology. “Blast double” describes shooting the double leg with full commitment, blasting through rather than setting up patiently; here it routes to the double leg entry, disambiguated from the dedicated blast-double page. The label emphasises the explosive penetration.

Mechanics. The double leg requires a level change before penetration: dropping the hips under the opponent’s so the drive travels through their base. Shooting without changing levels leaves the attacker bent over and reaching, the takedown stuffed before it reaches the hips. The deep level change is what lets the blast carry through.
