X-guard corkscrew
Also known as X-Guard Tilt Sweep — the canonical term used on this site.
Names the corkscrew X-guard tilt
X-guard corkscrew is a descriptive name for the X-guard tilt sweep — “corkscrew” naming the rotating tilt the legs apply.
Etymology. “Corkscrew” likens the twisting tilt of the opponent to the turn of a corkscrew; “X-guard” names the position. The label foregrounds the rotational quality of the tilt.
Mechanics. The tilt is hip-driven: the crossed legs lift and rotate the opponent’s hips through the bottom player’s hip mobility, corkscrewing them off balance to one side, so they topple as their base is turned out from under them rather than pushed straight back.
Cross-reference. “X tilt” is a sibling alias. Full mechanical coverage on X-Guard Tilt Sweep.
