Transition principles

Also known as Scramble Principles — the canonical term used on this site.

Names the principles governing transitions

Transition principles is a descriptive name for the scramble principles reference — broadening “scramble” to cover transitions between positions generally.

Etymology. “Transition” names the movement between settled positions; “principles” names the rules that govern it. The label frames the scramble rules as applying to any positional change, not only chaotic exchanges.

Mechanics. The player who reconnects on their own terms holds the initiative through a transition: re-establishing a grip or hook on your terms rather than the opponent’s dictates who leads into the next position. Moving without reconnecting cedes the initiative, so the principle is to control the moment of reconnection that every transition passes through.

Cross-reference. “Scramble framework” and “Scramble hierarchy” are sibling aliases. Full mechanical coverage on Scramble Principles.
