Spin behind
Also known as Go Behind — the canonical term used on this site.
Training background: Variant name for the spinning version of the go behind
Names the spin to the opponent's back
Spin behind is a descriptive name for the go-behind — naming the spinning motion around the opponent to their back.
Etymology. “Spin behind” describes whipping around the opponent’s shoulder to the rear; “go-behind” names the objective. The two are interchangeable, the spin emphasising the rotational path to the same destination.
Mechanics. The spin destabilises the opponent’s facing before control is taken: rotating around their shoulder turns them past their own base so they cannot square back up, and the attacker arrives behind a destabilised opponent rather than wrestling for a back they have not yet earned.
Cross-reference. “Slide by” is a sibling alias. Full mechanical coverage on Go Behind.
