Rolling leg lock entry
Also known as Imanari Roll — the canonical term used on this site.
Training background: Descriptive generic term.
Descriptive — rolling entry to a leg lock
Rolling leg lock entry is a descriptive name for the imanari roll — naming the technique by its generic class, a roll used to enter a leg lock.
Etymology. “Rolling leg lock entry” describes the function without the name: a rolling movement that arrives at a leg-lock position. The label is plain and lineage-neutral, used where the eponymous “imanari” is unfamiliar.
Mechanics. The roll must arrive at a controlling connection on the leg — the entanglement — or it spins past into open space; connection is the prerequisite for control, so the value of the roll is not the motion itself but the locked leg position it secures on completion.
Cross-reference. “Imanari entry” is a sibling alias. Full mechanical coverage on Imanari Roll.
