RDLR tripod sweep

Also known as Reverse Tripod Sweep — the canonical term used on this site.

Reverse-DLR tripod sweep

RDLR tripod sweep is a descriptive name for the reverse tripod sweep — “RDLR” abbreviating reverse De La Riva, the guard the sweep launches from.

Etymology. “RDLR” is the standard shorthand for reverse De La Riva guard; “tripod sweep” names the reversal. The label locates the tripod mechanic in the reverse-DLR position.

Mechanics. The reverse-DLR hook attacks the opponent’s base: wrapping the leg from the reverse hook lets the bottom player tip the opponent over their own foot, removing the support on that side so they fall backward toward the hooked leg with no base to recover on.

Cross-reference. “Reverse hook tripod” is a sibling alias. Full mechanical coverage on Reverse Tripod Sweep.
