Outside-ankle reap from the body lock
Outside ankle reap from body lock is a descriptive name for the octopus kosoto sweep — naming the reap of the outside ankle backed by a body lock.
Etymology. “Outside ankle reap” describes hooking and clearing the opponent’s outside ankle; “from body lock” names the torso control that anchors it. The label spells out both the reaping target and the grip behind it.
Mechanics. Reaping the outside ankle removes the opponent’s support leg, and destabilisation depends on controlling that leg: hooking it away while the body lock holds their torso means they cannot step to recover, so the support vanishes and they fall to the reaped side.
