Kimura control escape

Descriptive — the figure-four used as control, not finish
Kimura control escape is the descriptive name for kimura trap defence, naming the figure-four in its role as a control system rather than as a submission.
Etymology. “Control” is the operative word. The same grip that finishes a kimura can instead steer — to the back, to the mount, to a sweep — and the trap is the name for using it that way. The defensive vocabulary follows the offensive usage.
Mechanics. Because every branch runs on rotating an isolated arm, the counter-grip addresses them all at once: clasping your own hands re-supplements the trapped limb so it cannot be rotated, which stalls the finish, the back take and the sweep together. Late, the correct trade is to concede the back deliberately and clear the arm.
