Inside control
Also known as Double Underhooks — the canonical term used on this site.
Training background: colloquial
Informal — inside position via double unders
Inside control is a colloquial name for double underhooks — naming the position by the inside line both arms win rather than the hooks themselves.
Etymology. “Inside control” describes the result of double underhooks: both arms threaded inside the opponent’s, owning the inside line. The label foregrounds the positional advantage, used loosely for any strong inside-hand situation.
Mechanics. Double underhooks give the cleanest inside position, and inside position controls the outside: with both arms underneath, the attacker dictates the opponent’s hips and posture while the opponent’s outside arms can only react, never steer the exchange.
Cross-reference. “Double under” is a sibling alias. Full mechanical coverage on Double Underhooks.
