Crab Hook

Also known as Truck / Crab Ride — the canonical term used on this site.

Training background: informal

Colloquial — crab-shape hooking control

Crab Hook is the colloquial name for the truck position — flagging the crab-shape and the hook-leg controlling mechanic that the configuration uses to limit the bottom player’s rotation.

Etymology. “Crab” references the crab-shape body posture; “Hook” attaches the leg-as-hook controlling element. The compound is informal coaching shorthand that combines geometric and mechanism descriptors.

Mechanics. The hooked leg threading between the opponent’s legs limits rotational escape — the crab posture provides the stability for the hook to maintain its position.

Cross-reference. “Crab Ride,” “Truck Position,” and “Truck Control” are alternate names. Full mechanical coverage on Truck.
