Calf crush

Also known as Calf Slicer — the canonical term used on this site.

Training background: common alternative name — same technique

Descriptive — calf-tissue compression

Calf crush is the descriptive name for the calf slicer — flagging the compression mechanic against the calf tissue rather than the “slicer” metaphor’s leverage description.

Etymology. “Crush” specifies the compressive sensation on the calf; “slicer” specifies the wedge-leverage mechanism. Both terms describe the same submission with different emphases on the proprioceptive vs mechanical aspects.

Mechanics. The configuration loads a fulcrum into the back of the knee against the calf tissue — the compression of calf-and-fulcrum past safe range produces the submission threat.

Cross-reference. “Calf cutter,” “compression lock,” and “calf slicer” are alternate names. Full mechanical coverage on Calf Slicer.
