Anaconda escape

Also known as D'Arce and Anaconda Escape — the canonical term used on this site.

Escape from the anaconda choke

Anaconda escape is the shorthand name for the escape sequence from the anaconda choke — the front-headlock arm-in strangle that threads the attacker’s arm in the opposite direction from the D’arce.

Etymology. The label is the compressed form of “anaconda choke escape.” The escape is paired with the D’arce escape in instructional material because the two attacks use mirrored arm-thread geometries and the defensive sequences share structural elements while differing in entry-side detail.

Mechanics. The escape priority is intercepting the choking arm’s thread before the closed loop forms — the connection between attacker’s chest and opponent’s back is the destabilisation target.

Cross-reference. “D’Arce escape” is the mirror-direction variant. Full mechanical coverage on D’arce/Anaconda Escape.
