X-guard back entry
Also known as X-Guard Back Take — the canonical term used on this site.
X-guard entry to the back
X-guard back entry is a descriptive name for the X-guard back take — naming the route from X-guard to the opponent’s back.
Etymology. “X-guard” names the position where the bottom player’s crossed legs trap one of the opponent’s; “back entry” names the destination. The label frames the technique as a back take rather than a sweep to the top.
Mechanics. From X-guard the bottom player must establish the controlling connection that leads behind the opponent — a grip and angle that travel around to the back; connection is the prerequisite, since without securing the path behind them the bottom player surfaces beside the opponent rather than at their back.
