Wheel choke escape

Also known as Ezekiel Choke Escape — the canonical term used on this site.

Escape from the wheel-choke variant of the ezekiel

Wheel choke escape is the label for the escape from the wheel-choke variant of the ezekiel — a rotational-finish geometry in which the attacker’s arm and forearm wrap the neck in a wheel-like closing motion.

Etymology. “Wheel” describes the rotational closing of the choking arm — the forearm wheels around the neck as the bicep closes the second side. The escape inherits the “wheel” descriptor from the parent technique’s naming.

Mechanics. The escape priority is intercepting the wheel closure before the bilateral compression completes — preventing the second-arm closure rather than removing it after the loop forms.

Cross-reference. “Ezekiel escape” is the broader name; “sleeve choke escape” is the historical gi-context name. Full mechanical coverage on Ezekiel Escape.
