Waiter back take
Also known as Deep Half Back Take — the canonical term used on this site.
Names the waiter (deep half) back take
Waiter back take is a descriptive name for the deep half back take — “waiter” naming the deep-half variant where the leg is held overhead like a tray.
Etymology. “Waiter” describes holding the opponent’s leg up on the palm as a waiter holds a tray; “back take” names the destination. The label locates the back take in that specific deep-half configuration.
Mechanics. Elevating the leg overhead destabilises the opponent forward over the bottom player, and as they post to recover, the bottom player follows the destabilisation around to the back; the off-balance comes first, opening the angle behind them that the back take exploits.
Cross-reference. “Deep half back entry” is a sibling alias. Full mechanical coverage on Deep Half Back Take.
