Under the leg-over mount
Also known as S-Mount — Bottom — the canonical term used on this site.
Training background: descriptive
Descriptive — defending the S-mount from below
Under the leg-over mount is a descriptive name for the S-mount bottom position — naming the defence from beneath an S-mount, where a leg crosses over toward the head.
Etymology. “Leg-over mount” describes the S-mount’s shape, a leg lifted over toward the opponent’s head and shoulder; “under the” frames the defending player. The label names the position by that distinctive leg position.
Mechanics. The S-mount isolates the near arm to set up the armbar, removing it from the defensive system; the defence keeps that arm connected to the body, clamping it tight and turning in so it cannot be peeled away. As long as the arm stays glued to the torso, the isolation the finish depends on is denied.
Cross-reference. “Pre-armbar mount defence” is a sibling alias. Full mechanical coverage on S-Mount — Bottom.
