Eponymous — named for the competitor who popularised it
Tarik shoulder lock defence uses the eponymous form of the tarikoplata’s name, keeping the first name the technique is known by.
Etymology. Like the baratoplata, this technique carries a personal name fused to the -plata suffix. The eponymous form separates the two halves and is common in written material where the compound looks unfamiliar.
Mechanics. The shoulder is loaded through rotation with the legs supplying a fixed frame, so shortening the lever is the survival option and recovering the arm is the escape. Posture recovery alone does not resolve it, which is what distinguishes this from a standard omoplata.
