Sit-up sweep
Also known as Hip Bump Sweep — the canonical term used on this site.
Names the sit-up (hip bump) sweep
Sit-up sweep is a descriptive name for the hip bump sweep — naming the sit-up that initiates the reversal from closed guard.
Etymology. “Sit-up” describes the bottom player coming up off their back onto an elbow and hand; “sweep” names the reversal. The label foregrounds the sitting-up motion that opens the technique.
Mechanics. The posting hand creates the offensive opportunity: sitting up onto a base of hand and elbow lets the bottom player turn into the opponent and bump the hip, and from that posted position they can off-balance the opponent backward over the leg the sit-up has freed.
Cross-reference. “Hip throw from guard” is a sibling alias. Full mechanical coverage on Hip Bump Sweep.
