Shin-to-throat defence
Also known as Domplata — Bottom — the canonical term used on this site.
Training background: Descriptive — captures the mechanical threat
Descriptive — defending the shin-on-throat choke
Shin-to-throat defence is a descriptive name for the domplata bottom position — naming the defence against the shin pressed across the throat.
Etymology. “Shin-to-throat” describes the domplata’s mechanic, a shin driven across the neck; “defence” frames the bottom player’s response. The label names the position by the threat being defended.
Mechanics. The domplata works by isolating the trapped arm so it cannot defend the neck; the defence reclaims that arm, returning it to the body’s defensive system before the shin can complete the choke. Freeing the isolated limb is the priority, since an arm back in play can fight the shin off the throat.
Cross-reference. “Mounted shin choke defence” is a sibling alias. Full mechanical coverage on Domplata — Bottom.
