Push sweep
Also known as Overhead Sweep — the canonical term used on this site.
Names the overhead push sweep
Push sweep is a descriptive name for the overhead sweep — naming the push of the feet that launches the opponent overhead.
Etymology. “Push” describes extending the legs to drive the opponent up and back; “sweep” names the reversal. The label foregrounds the pushing action of the overhead sweep.
Mechanics. The sweep uses the legs and hips to push the opponent overhead: planting the feet on their hips or thighs and extending elevates them through hip mobility, so their weight passes back over the bottom player and they land behind, reversed, with the bottom player following up.
Cross-reference. “Balloon sweep” is a sibling alias. Full mechanical coverage on Overhead Sweep.
