Outside Hook
Also known as Outside Heel Hook — the canonical term used on this site.
Shortened — outside heel hook
Outside Hook is the shortened name for the outside heel hook — the rotational knee attack in which the attacker rotates the heel outward against the trapped knee.
Etymology. “Outside Hook” drops “heel” from the full name; the abbreviated form predominates in coaching shorthand where context makes the heel-hook category clear.
Mechanics. The outward heel rotation loads the knee in a direction the joint has minimal tolerance for — the lock’s mechanical signature is the rapid loading of the LCL and lateral structures.
Cross-reference. “Outer Heel Hook” is the alternate name. Full mechanical coverage on Outside Heel Hook.
