Lachlan Guard
Also known as K-Guard (Entanglement Context) — the canonical term used on this site.
Training background: colloquial
Coach-attached — Lachlan Giles's K-guard system
Lachlan Guard is the coach-attached name for the K-guard entanglement system — flagging the technique’s systematisation by Australian no-gi competitor and instructor Lachlan Giles, whose 2010s and 2020s competitive use and instructional output built the modern K-guard attack chains.
Etymology. “Lachlan” attaches the Giles lineage; “Guard” specifies the position-family. The compound appears in instructional vocabulary that emphasises the Giles-system origin over the geometric K-shape name.
Mechanics. The K-shape body configuration drives the attacker’s hip into the inside space against the standing opponent’s hipline — the entry initiates the leg-entanglement attack chain.
Cross-reference. “K-Position,” “K-Guard LE,” and “K-Guard Entanglement” are alternate names. Full mechanical coverage on K-Guard Entanglement.
