ko uchi makikomi

Also known as Kouchi Makikomi — the canonical term used on this site.

Romanisation variant of kouchi makikomi

Ko uchi makikomi is a spacing variant of kouchi makikomi — the same judo throw with the romanisation broken into separate syllables.

Etymology. “Ko uchi” (small inner) and “makikomi” (winding) name a small inner reap finished by wrapping the opponent down. The variant spelling simply spaces the syllables that “kouchi” runs together; the throw is identical.

Mechanics. The small inner reap controls the opponent’s near leg and clips it inward, removing the support, while the winding wrap carries them down with the attacker; the reap must control that leg first, since the wrap only commits once the support is compromised.
