Knee on stomach
Also known as Knee on Belly — Top — the canonical term used on this site.
Training background: descriptive English
Descriptive — knee-on-belly by another name
Knee on stomach is a descriptive name for the knee on belly position — “stomach” simply naming the same target the knee drives into.
Etymology. “Knee on stomach” and “knee on belly” are interchangeable, both describing the top player’s knee planted on the opponent’s midsection. The label differs only in which word names the belly.
Mechanics. The position is a balance over a narrow base: the top player rides weight onto the driving knee while the other foot posts wide for stability, staying mobile and heavy at once. Sound base over the support points is what lets the rider stay perched and re-pin the instant the bottom player shifts.
