Inversion
Also known as Berimbolo — the canonical term used on this site.
Generic — inversion movement category
Inversion is the generic action-name for the rotational body-movement that takes the bottom player from upright-guard orientation to upside-down — most centrally used in the berimbolo and related back-take attacks.
Etymology. “Inversion” is the broad descriptor of the rotational mechanic; the berimbolo is the canonical use case. The label is sometimes used as shorthand for “berimbolo” in coaching contexts where the inversion is the live tactical concern.
Mechanics. The inversion uses the opponent’s standing posture as the structural anchor around which the bottom player rotates — the rotation exposes the opponent’s back as the inversion completes.
Cross-reference. “Rolling back take” and “berimbolo” are related names. Full mechanical coverage on Berimbolo.
