Inside Leg Hook
Also known as Leg Ride — the canonical term used on this site.
Training background: Descriptive anatomical term
Descriptive — inside leg hook variant of the leg ride
Inside Leg Hook is the descriptive name for the inside-leg-hook variant of the leg ride — the folkstyle wrestling control in which the attacker hooks one of the bottom player’s legs from the inside line to limit hip mobility and set up turns.
Etymology. “Inside” specifies the hook direction (from the inside line of the leg); “leg hook” attaches the gripping mechanism category. The label is anatomical and appears in folkstyle wrestling instructional material that prefers geometric description over functional name.
Mechanics. The hook destabilises the bottom player’s hip mobility by anchoring against the inside line of the leg — the bottom player cannot escape without first breaking the leg connection.
Cross-reference. “Leg control” is the broader functional name; “leg ride” is the positional category. Full mechanical coverage on Leg Ride.
