Guillotine (wrestling) defence is the folkstyle wrestling name for twister defence, and the parenthetical is essential — in wrestling the guillotine is the spinal lock that grappling calls the twister, not the front headlock strangle.
Etymology. The collision is one of the genuine vocabulary traps between the two sports. A wrestler saying “guillotine” means this; a no-gi grappler saying it means a neck strangle from the front headlock. The parenthetical disambiguates in writing.
Mechanics. The lock needs two opposing anchors — the truck holding the hips in one rotation, head control turning the shoulders the other — with the spine taking the difference. Either anchor failing defeats it, which is why a chin tuck beats the submission with the leg entanglement fully intact.
