explosive double
Also known as Blast Double — the canonical term used on this site.
Descriptive — explosive (blast) double leg
Explosive double is a descriptive name for the blast double — “explosive” and “blast” both naming the committed, high-speed double leg.
Etymology. “Explosive double” describes the same all-in penetration as “blast double”: a double leg driven through the opponent rather than set up patiently. The two names are interchangeable, emphasising speed and commitment.
Mechanics. The blast double depends on a deep level change before penetration — dropping the hips under the opponent’s centre of gravity so the drive goes through them. Shooting without the level change leaves the attacker reaching up into the opponent and stuffs the takedown.
