Bread cutter defence

Family Escapes & Defence

Also known as Bicep Slicer Escape — the canonical term used on this site.

Colloquial — the wedge likened to a cutting edge

Bread cutter defence is a colloquial name for bicep slicer defence, from the image of a bone edge pressed into muscle like a blade.

Etymology. The term is loose and occasionally used for other compression attacks, which is why it sits at the informal tier. It survives because the sensation genuinely is one of a hard edge cutting into tissue rather than a joint being levered.

Mechanics. Keeping the arm close to the torso denies the wedge a crook to enter, which is the reliable prevention. If the fulcrum seats, rotating the elbow inward changes the crook’s orientation against the wedge enough to strip it — survival under the ride rather than a clean escape.

Cross-reference. “Bicep crush escape” is the descriptive name. Full escape coverage on Bicep Slicer Escape.
