Bicep crush

Also known as Bicep Slicer — the canonical term used on this site.

Training background: Alternative name — emphasises the compression rather than slicing mechanic

Descriptive — emphasises the compression rather than slicing mechanic

Bicep crush is a descriptive name for the bicep slicer — emphasising the compression mechanic against the bicep brachii muscle rather than the “slicing” metaphor of the canonical name.

Etymology. “Crush” and “slicer” are alternative descriptive metaphors for the same compression: the slicer metaphor evokes the wedge-like fulcrum between the attacker’s shin or wrist and the opponent’s elbow crook; the crush metaphor evokes the resulting pressure against the bicep tissue. Some coaching vocabularies prefer “crush” because it captures the proprioceptive experience of being on the receiving end; others prefer “slicer” because it captures the leverage mechanism. Both terms appear in instructional material and are mutually intelligible across no-gi communities.

Mechanics. The configuration loads a fulcrum into the elbow crook between two anchoring points, compressing the soft tissue against the joint and forcing the joint past its safe range.

Cross-reference. “Bicep slicer” is the canonical site label; “arm slicer” and “arm crush” are looser variants. Full mechanical coverage on Bicep Slicer.
