Backside Fifty-Fifty

Also known as Backside 50/50 — the canonical term used on this site.

Spelled-out — backside 50/50 leg entanglement

Backside Fifty-Fifty is the spelled-out name for the backside 50/50 — the leg-entanglement variant in which the attacker is positioned behind the opponent rather than facing them, with the symmetric leg-entanglement geometry adapted to the back-attack angle.

Etymology. “Backside” specifies the attacker’s positional orientation; “Fifty-Fifty” carries forward the symmetric-entanglement family name. The spelled-out form appears alongside the numeric “Back 50/50” alternate.

Mechanics. The back-positioned 50/50 produces back-take threats in addition to the standard 50/50’s leg-attack options — the attacker’s positional advantage compounds the symmetric leg-attack leverage.

Cross-reference. “Back 50/50” and “Modified 50/50” are alternate names. Full mechanical coverage on Backside 50/50.
