Arm Pin

Also known as Wrist Ride — the canonical term used on this site.

Training background: Functional description

Descriptive — pinning the bottom player's arm

Arm Pin is the descriptive name for the wrist ride — flagging the arm-pinning mechanic that the wrist control produces, immobilising the bottom player’s primary defensive limb from the top of turtle.

Etymology. “Arm pin” is the functional descriptor: the configuration pins the arm to limit the bottom player’s escape options. The label is more common in casual coaching speech; “wrist ride” predominates in published instructional vocabulary.

Mechanics. With the arm pinned, the bottom player loses their primary hand-fighting and framing resource — escape options that depend on arm participation become unavailable.

Cross-reference. “Wrist control” is the alternate descriptive name. Full mechanical coverage on Wrist Ride.
